Hotels will provide toothbrushes on request.. along with other items. Basically you could walk in with nothing and they'll set you up. (especially if it was as nice as you describe)

I do hope your suitcase brings you a nice souvenir from San Diego.. they have a new exhibit at the zoo! (I'm convinced suitcases book tours of their own... )
