Whose luggage is this?

Whenever i go travelling i am usually quite obsessive about keeping my luggage with me just in case anyone nicks my precious things if nothing else!

So I was quite surprised when i was at Victoria Coach station (the nearest thing london has to a refugee camp theme park experience) and saw a suitcase sitting by itself taking up a valuable seat.

after about twenty minutes i started making discreet enquiries amongst my fellow passengers as to whether it was their suitcase. It wasnt.

so i alerted the station supervisor who started prodding it with his foot. Immediately some guy at the back who had headphones on ran over and claimed it. He got a lecture.

but never mind the potential terrorist problems. Why would someone leave their bag on a seat and then stand at the back somewhere ? Who are you "saving" the seat for ?!

travellers. Tsk tsk.

bags with no people make no sense! lol

i remember when i went to the uk in ...uhm..1991 or so, there were these signs and i felt sick in the stomach in anticipation of IRA bomb attacks..then on my way back to the ferry, we were blocked in the train when there was a big fire on the wooden (!)stairways of some main London station. (we were blocked altho already moving away from that station and missed our ferry and had trouble not to pay more but hey, never mind, it was exciting..)
now these kind of signs are probably all over the western world and it's like.. normal. i like the 'prodding' bomb investigation.
oh! in France also drove by when they just closed the highway in the other direction for a bag that was lying there close to the airport.
they blew the thing up. For having seen the bag, i will always think some poor maroccoan immigrant lost it from the top of his car and had to explain to his disappointed family in the village at home that damn, no, he does not know where the bag with the fancy summer dresses from Paris has gone lost..

I was also at Victoria coach station last night. What time were you there?

I dunno why people do that. The ladies I work with do that all the time with their coffee. They set it down and then walk off without it, forgetting it's there. If you are drinking it how can you forget where you set it? And then I see girls do this at bars all the time, where they will leave their coats or their handbags(!!) some place and then later run frantically around in a panic looking for them.

Are people really just that daft?
