Beowulf was literally (sorry, pun intended) the first peice of real literature I ever read in school. (My third grade teacher rocked.) Later in college I got my hands on a more complete copy of the entire epic poem. I have a deep fondness for the thing. So when you say they changed it from the original story, I get a tightness in my stomach.
