One of my fantastic birthday presents was a very frail pure glass teapot from Miss H. Which I promptly managed to break.

So should I:

- scour the Earth for a similar glass teapot, and hope to Devil she doesn't notice when she pops round for tea?

- admit defeat, tell Miss H and ask her where she got it from?

Tell her, def. what if you can't find another in time, and then she comes over and doesn't see it in use? It will hurt her feelings. She won't get upset over an accident.

I like the latter choice.

If you don't mind employing a bit more guile, say you think you'd like to get something like it for you (relative of choice) and so where did she get it so that you can have a browse.

Tell her. It will avoid unnecessary embarrassment and will have the added bonus of letting her know you are inclined to break super-fragile things, so she will buy you a teapot made of rocks next time.

Either tell her (she does know you after all) or do the abovementioned thing of "I'd like to get one for my sister or.. whomever - but remember to do that cause she may well ask later and then you are covered.

now.. a note for me "Get on H's holiday gift giving list... " :D

Tell her. Chicks dig honesty. At least that's what they say up until you tell them you really fancy their best mate. Then you're being "too honest".

Can't bloody win.

actually, thinking more on this, it would be flattering to know that you want to replace something that was broken meaning you cared about it in the first place.
