People are always amazed when I say I don't like Star Wars. And I don't.

To me it's an overtly cliched rags-to-riches tale of small boy who grows up to defeat a mighty empire. Albeit with sci-fi trappings. But everyone knows the story yadda yadda yadda thanks to mass media culture.

I did go see the Special Edition at the cinema once in 1997, and kept wishing for the fast-forward button. It's so damn slow!

Were you old enough see it in the theaters the first time. It (and to a lesser extent Donner's Superman) were just mind blowingly over and above anything else that had been done with effects to that point.

I love the Star Wars original trilogy as movies..but I think they were terrible for moviemaking in general. Since no one wants to make dialog driven movies anymore cause they want to make a few hundred million by blowing stuff up.

Carl took my brother and I to see the Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi...I can't remember which...whatever one was the second one. Anyway, I fell asleep in the theater because I was bored out of my skull. Carl wakes me up when it was over and said "You owe me $2 since you slept thru over half of the movie!"

Freak.

Anyway, you're obviously too young. I remember seeing all of the original trilogy and then seeing them all again in a string at Low Fell Odeon. Ah, those were the days - three films for a couple of quid. Shame it's not granny flats.

I can also still remember seeing the original Tron and the first Indy film. And Clash of the Titans (now being "remade", in that everything's different apart from the title) at the now-deceased ABC on Westgate Road. And, erm. Disney's Snow White - at the now-closed Odeon on Pilgrim Street.

Strange how I can't remember half the films I saw three years ago.

It's a sequel, I'm fairly sure. And it sounds amazing from what little skuttlebutt I've picked up. The only bad thing so far is the name. Tron 2.0 would be far better than the "TR2N" they've gone for... I think someone messed up the naming conventions they should have used for Die Hard 4.0. It could have gotten away with being "Die H4rd".
