Like most people, I was wondering when the Obama magic would actually yield some achievable results.

Then I realised that he's only been in office for just over a year. Give the man a chance!

Remember, it took Dubya over a year and a half to gain any public approval at all (and even then it only happened because of terrorism). And he was a two-termer. Nuts.

But when Dubya first arrived, he literally had no pressing concerns. Russia was vanquished, historians were talking about The End Of History and America stood as the sole superpower with nothing bothering it except internal issues.

Which is probably why the American nation elected an alcoholic cheerleader. Ho-hum.

Also, as I pointed out, he came into a country that not only had almost no problems, but which had negative problems. Soaring national approval, a huge surplus, an ideal economy, and no real problems in ages.

Obama came into a nation with a giant deficit, a crashing economy, and an international reputation on par with WWII Germany.

The guy is actually doing okay. He could be doing better, but considering the turd he was dealt, I'm impressed.

Americans, if you haven't realised, have notoriously short memory and attention spans. I consider them the ADD nation of the world - and it's not helped when right-wing morons like Giuliani keep ret-conning recent history at will, making claims that there were NO TERRORIST ACTS during Bush's tenure.

It's sad that most American fear the intelligentsia. I think he's doing fine, considering what he has to work with. I don't regret voting for him in the least.
