choirgrrl had a discussion on whether smoking was cool or not, and it struck me at that point that I bizarrely thought smoking was visually cool. Mostly because:

- Visually, it looks good. Even when the adverts are trying to stop you smoking:

It's almost as if Angelina Jolie herself is riding a bike and telling you to grab a fag.

- Since they banned smoking in UK pubs etc., you'll often see smokers huddled together outside. Which, ironically, makes me wish I could grab a fag and join them in their random conversations. And maybe I'd get more safe non-work practise in the art of small talk.

But then again, I can't stand the smell of smoke on my clothes. Although I do miss smelling it on my clothes the morning after the night before - it's one sign that you've gone out and done something.

And I biologically can't smoke. I keep coughing. Still, that's good news for my bank balance and what remains of my health...

I'm glad it's banned. When I used to do TSA and work the FND at University it really sucked to wake on Saturday and smell the reek of smoke on my clothes piled by the bedside, on my hair and worst of all on my pillow (where it had rubbed off from the hair).

I think smoking can look pretty cool, but I have a THING about hands, especially when they are in front of/touching faces. Many of my icons follow this pattern.

I remember being a kid, watching my father smoke, and thinking it was the coolest looking thing ever. I was determined from a young age to smoke, mainly because in my mind, I would BE cool.
Even now, when I need a bit of courage, I light up.
I used to do it at restaurants, but only because it seems that at that moment, the food always came. :P
