You know, I'm at a loss. He seems totally serious about representing the violence in Darfur and that has to be a good thing. Yet...yet... the words exploitational fuckwit doesn't seem to do it justice.
And *sigh* I can just see rape apologists saying "well if they were happy to reenact it, and got paid for the priviledge, then rape can't be as bad as every woman claims"

It's so depressing and ignorant that there can't even be a movie about genocide in an African country without it being framed in the context of "look at the white woman crying at how sad this all is".

but it's the brutal reality of the self-obsessed way we are now. From climate change to Doctor Who, nothing affects us unless it's in some way tied in or connected to us personally.

and it's not necessarily a race thing. Look at the huge indifference the West generally had towards the Yugoslavia shambles.

I dread to think about the psychological impact that would have on the victims. But if you have nothing and probably live with flash backs etc already, and this is probably a life changing sum of cash they were offered, I would probably be tempted.
